The U.S. Association for the University for Peace (UPEACE/US) was founded in 2006 to promote and advance UPEACE and the practice of education for peace in the United States and beyond. We are based in Washington D.C. and below are some of our programs:
Upeacebuilders
With over 600 alums from over 85 countries, the United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) alumni community is one of the most diverse and close-knit networks of peacebuilders in the world. From human rights lawyers in Sierra Leone to aid workers in Afghanistan, from Peace Educators in Uganda to environmental economists in Peru, each Upeacebuilder actively works for peace in its many manifestations and each carries with them the valuable knowledge, practical skills, and strong relationships made at UPEACE.
Short Courses
UPEACE/US offers professional training courses in Washington, DC and Costa Rica in conjunction with the UPEACE Center for Executive & Professional Education. The courses are designed to provide established and emerging leaders with the professional development opportunity to advance their leadership and management skills. Through these courses, leaders of all professional backgrounds are equipped with critical skills to maximize their impact in their respective careers and in the pursuit of peace and justice.
DCPEACE

In Washington, D.C., vast discrepancies exist in the quality of a child's education depending on where he or she lives. Some have opportunities, encouragement, and security, while others are faced with obstacles and neglect, and fear for their own personal safety. To address these needs that exist in our nation’s capitol, UPEACE/US has partnered with educators, administration, and parents in the District of Columbia Public School system to design and implement an innovative peace education and conflict prevention program.
