UPEACE/US to Help Train City Year Core Members
Washington DC City Year has asked UPEACE/US provide trainings in conflict transformation and behavior managment for its 70+ core members working in the city. UPEACE/US will also work closely with core members placed in schools where the DCPEACE program is offered to collaboratively provide skill sets to teachers and students to prevent violence and change the way communities deal with conflict.
The City Year youth service corps unites 1,500 young people age 17-24 for a year of full-time community service, leadership development, and civic engagement. These young leaders come from diverse backgrounds and put their idealism to work by tutoring and mentoring school children, reclaiming public spaces, and organizing after-school programs, school vacation camps, and the Starfish Corps, Young Heroes, and City Heroes programs.
