And here's how we do it: U.S. Based Professional Training UPEACE/US is responsive to the growing need for advanced professional development and skills-based training for professionals in the U.S. We deliver highly interactive and innovative short courses in conjunction with UPEACE professors. Courses are offered on a variety of topics including: Nonprofit Leadership, Social Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Through these courses, professionals gain the practical skills necessary to maximize their impact as peacebuilders. Peace Education in U.S. Public Schools UPEACE/US is committed to advancing peace at the local level through peace education. We are currently developing a program to provide peace education content, pedagogy, and teacher-training in U.S. public schools. As a pilot project, we are collaborating with elementary and middle schools in the Washington D.C. area. Our program tailors to the individual needs of schools and classrooms as defined by their community and utilizes existing methodologies and resources produced by UPEACE professors and other leading experts in the field. As a consequence of our efforts, both teachers and students are equipped with practical skills for resolving conflicts and building peace in their communities. International Civil Society Support UPEACE/US conducts training workshops and provides resource assistance abroad in order to strengthen the peacebuilding capacities of local leaders in their communities. Workshops are based on key themes in civil society development including, Grassroots Leadership, Sustainable Development, and Social Entrepreneurship. Through this effort, UPEACE/US enhances the ability of civil society leaders to act as principal agents of change in their local contexts.
