UPEACE/US is currently accepting applications for two executive internship positions for Fall/Winter 2009 at its office in Washington D.C. The program runs from October through January, but start and end dates are flexible. The UPEACE/US executive internship program provides interns with great exposure to the non-profit community in Washington as well as to the United Nations community in New York and Washington. Interns can expect to engage in meaningful research and project development and will play an important part in helping to build both the University for Peace and UPEACE/US.
Job Description: The executive interns will assist UPEACE/US executives in performing all duties. Specifically, interns will:
- Assist with UPEACE/US events and board meeting planning
- Actively contribute to program development for PeaceRooms and DCPEACE programs
- Participate in meetings with UN non-governmental, and governmental organizations in Washington
Programs Qualifications: Only local District of Columbia area applicants will be reviewed. Candidates should have excellent writing skills, and strong oral communication skills. The ability to manage multiple tasks, work towards multiple goals, problem-solve and prioritize assignments is a must. Candidates should also have demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and management skills. Applicants with a strong commitment to working with international issues, education, and the United Nations are preferred.
